Jim Clendenen is the "Mind Behind" Au Bon Climat creating internationally recognized, Burgundian-focused wines of balance and intrigue. But with a creative mind, there is so much more. Jim's other projects of passion allow him to make artisan, small lots of distinctive wines from a wider spectrum of varieties, in styles conducive to limited production under different brands. Open since 2011, our tasting room in downtown Santa Barbara offers current releases and select library wines in a warm and casual setting. The wines of Au Bon Climat, Clendenen Family Vineyard, Ici/La-Bas, Barham Mendelsohn, Vita Nova, and Jim Clendenen’s other creative endeavors are featured, representing an array of varietals (16!) beyond Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With over 100 different wines stocked, the selection is amazing.
Library Wines:
With a respect for the benefits of aging, our wines are not rushed to market. They are appropriately aged for maximum enjoyment. Each vintage a quantity is set aside in our extensive “wine library”. Consequently, we not only offer current releases, but with over 35 years in the business, a plethora of older wines. It's a perfect way to celebrate an anniversary or birthday. Large format bottles from magnums to jeroboams are also available (call for what is in stock).
